Case Scenario :
Mr. X is an HR manager of a renowned financial institution, senior management relies upon him very much regarding the staffing and human resource decisions like hiring, promotions, increment. Mr. X has established rigorous rules on office attendance and usually does not accommodate personal limitations of the employees. However, these rules are somewhat flexible for some of the staffs who are close to him. There is a rumor that he has influenced the recruitment process by hiring some of his relatives in a number of positions in the company. There is a general sense of resentment among the employees over these issues. No formal complaints have been logded by any employee because they fear that any grievance regarding the discrimination may result in disciplinary actions. Nonetheless some of the staff are also considering ways to please the manager instead of making genuine contribution through their work.
Mr. X is currently working on the high employee turnover of the company. He primarily thought that initiatives like increasing the notice period to be served by the employees or imposing financial cost to the employees' decision to leave the organization should contribute to retaining the talented workforce. But these initiatives led to a decrease in productivity and resulted in a demotivated workforce.
